The Talking Dog

July 2, 2006, Happy Independence Day

Not much blogging by me anticipated during this putative four day weekend, so... go do something else!!! Or check out the good stuff going on with the blogs on the sidebar. Or whatever.

You might want to consider the interviews with those knowledgable with issues associated with the law associated with the "war on terror", and particularly, of course, my most recent with Jeff Addicott immediately below. Consider the most fundamental question of all, which overrides all others, as so ably expressed by Professor Addicott: are we, in fact, at war? Indeed, can we be at something called "a war" for purposes of the law when our enemy is not, in fact, a "nation-state"?

You might also consider if the gentlemen in the powdered wigs in the picture above anticipated where we would be right now. Would they have accepted the explanations given, and the rationale for them that we have been given?

Regardless of what else you can say, I'm glad we still live in a country where these questions can still be asked (as can questions about the actions and motivations of those entrusted with our governance).

Even if far, far too many, including too many in our ruling party, don't seem to be so glad of it.

"Not much blogging by me anticipated during this putative four day weekend, so... go do something else!!!"

Do something else indeed ... tisk, tisk ... Dog. Gonna have to get over here more often. I can see the Yetis are running you ragged and threatening to derail your good fight.

Am enjoying the interviews and have stopped in to grab the interview with Dr. David Nicholl.

Breaking News:

North Korea:
President Bush said today, "I care deeply about the people in North Korea. I truly do. It breaks my heart to know that young children are literally starving to death."

(Btw, this is a news conference with "Steve" from Canada ... they are proably cooking up more grits on the North American Union Fiasco ... fancy room ... WH, I presume ... Seated off to the President's right are Cheney, Condi and Chertoff ... looking bored or drugged ... they need to go disco dancing or something.)

"We're working this issue hard," said BushBoy with a sweeping had gesture.

Anyway, breaks over ... back to work!

Well ... I hear this is going to be a glorious weekend (so was 9-11 ... a glorious day) ... so ... you can go skiing with the Yeti delegates if they invite you ... but then it is definitely back to work.

WOW ...

A Fairly Pathetic Scene!

Newsworthy item from the birthday party with the Canadian Prime Minister ... an event when several members of the press claimed this day as their birthday too and were invited to the podium for a group hug.

But that is not the most special news ... BONUS NEWS ITEM!

Bush Solves Global Warming.

President Bush, when asked if he thought Al Gore was right about Global Warming, he told People Magazine he'd always acknowledged that the problem exists and remarked, "I think there is a debate about whether it is caused by mankind or whether it is caused naturaly, but it is a worthy debate. It's a debate, actually, that I'm in the process of SOLVING by advancing new technologies, burning coal cleanly in electric plants, or promoting hudrogen-powered automobiles, or advancing ethanol as an alternative to gasoline."

Again ... WOW ... that's just damn skippy, George!

End Yeti transmission:
